Assorted Money Making Sites | MyMoneySites Directory
This section includes a variety of money-making sites that don't
fit into any specific category in the directory at this time.
When enough sites with a common theme show up here, a new category
may be added for them in the future. If you want to suggest a
new site or category, you can always do so on the feedback
page.
Broken Gold
will pay you for your old, broken, or unwanted jewelry. In addition
to gold jewelry, they may accept other items such as platinum and
sterling silver. To begin, simply visit their site and request a
kit. They will send you a pre-paid envelope that you can use to
send them your jewelry. Broken Gold will then send you a check immediately
after receiving your package. The amount you will earn depends mainly
on the weight of the items. If you are not satisfied with the amount
paid, you can return the check within 10 days and receive your jewelry
back.
CafePress
is a custom online shop that anyone can use. First you create a
design that you want to sell, then you receive your own personal
online store where you can sell products that feature your design.
Some examples of products you can put your design on are shirts,
mugs, posters, bumper stickers, and many others. A basic shop is
free, and CafePress handles all billing and returns for you. CafePress
gets a standard cut for each item sold. You set the final price
for each item, which determines how much profit you will make. You
are then free to promote your personal shop on your web site or
anywhere else you like.
Ebates
gives you cash back whenever you shop online. They list hundreds
of well known merchants for you to choose from, and each will offer
from 1% to as much as 25% cash back for purchases you make from
them through Ebates. Some merchants offer specific amounts of cash
back instead of a percentage. Ebates sends out a check every 3 months
to its users with their accumulated cash. If you already do most
of your shopping online, you will likely be able to receive a significant
amount of cash back by using Ebates. Currently, there is also a
$5.00 bonus just for signing up.
eJury is a
site that allows you to participate as an online juror for a "rehearsal"
version of a real trial. This is so lawyers can gather feedback
and work on the strategy for their trial. As an eJuror, you will
be asked to review the facts of the case and then answer a series
of questions about it. The process is done entirely online, can
be completed in about a half hour (on average, but the length of
cases varies) and pays $5-$10. After signing up, there is no obligation
- you can participate when a new case shows up, or choose not to.
To apply, you must be a U.S. citizen who is not involved in the
legal profession.
Freerecycling.com
is a recycling company that will pay you for your old (empty) ink
cartridges. They will also pay for old cell phones, provided the
phones still work and are in good shape. You will earn anywhere
from $0.10-$3.60 each for the empty cartridges, and in the range
of $4-$30 for cell phones. The site provides lists of brands and
part/model numbers that they accept for both items, along with how
much they pay for each. Note that you must be in the United States
to sign up.
Google
User Experience Research pays you for testing out Google
products - some still being developed - and providing feedback on
them. There are several ways of providing feedback, and you choose
in advance which ones you are interested in. You can participate
entirely online by filling out surveys about the product. You can
also speak with a Google researcher on the phone while trying the
product, or even visit one of their offices. Google pays an ample
$75/hour for working with them in person or over the phone, with
studies usually lasting 1-2 hours. The amount paid for surveys is
less, and varies depending on the particular study.
Mahalo Greenhouse
is part of Mahalo, a "human powered" search engine - think
of it as a cross between Google and Wikipedia. When you enter a
search on Mahalo, you are presented with a page of relevant links
that has been carefully designed by one of their guides. At the
Greenhouse, anyone can apply to be a PTG ("part time guide")
and help design these results pages. You will be paid for each page
you build that is approved by Mahalo. Pay starts at $10.00 per page
and scales up to $15.00 per page as more of your pages are approved.
PickyDomains
is a site that helps companies and startups decide on a web site
name for new projects. Anyone is free to sign up as a contributor
at PickyDomains and then help suggest names. If your suggestion
is the one chosen by a company, you receive $25.00. If your suggestion
is not chosen, but is creative and has some potential value, PickyDomains
may register it. They will then try to resell it at a higher price
and split the profits with you.
Scoopt is
a media site operated by Getty Images that allows amateur photographers
to send in newsworthy photos from their digital cameras or camera
phones. Scoopt will then market your photos exclusively for one
year to the media and other publishers. You will receive a 40% royalty
each time your photo is purchased. Photos can be of current events,
sporting events, demonstrations, natural disasters, or other items
of interest to the general public. Scoopt is available to photographers
all over the world, though people living in an urban area may have
an easier time finding the type of photos that Scoopt is looking
for.
